2022 CHRISTMAS DAY REPORT

The 2022 Christmas Day meal at Emmanuel went really well, had a lovely atmosphere and lots of happy volunteers and guests. We cooked for 80 people, had a quiz, showed the King’s speech and enjoyed a delicious three course meal.

Volunteers this year, as with previous years, were from inside and outside the local church, but majority from outside the church. It was a fantastic group effort.

Donations to CTB from:

Private donor £100

Billericay District Residents Association £250
Total cash income £2111
Donated stock
Waitrose 250
Coop £150
Cook £400
Total expenditure £957

I received, (through a recommendation of a contact of Paul Carr's) a large corporate donation, much of which remains unspent. This remaining money allows the next church and organiser to plan for Christmas 2023 with plenty of money to spare. We used some of the money to hire hot food trolleys which were invaluable and purchased some serving dishes and fun Christmas hats which will be available for use for future events.

I have assisted with running the event for a few years and won't be continuing. So a church and an organising team needs to be found for 2023. If anyone is able to take on the task of hosting and running this event you will want to get going with publicity in about October, so a decision will be needed before September. I have lots of ideas of where to publicise.

I have so many lovely contacts, volunteers and donors who I can connect you to. If anyone feels they can take this on for 2023 I will happily give you lots of handover notes as ideas; none of which you need to follow of course! It is the most rewarding task I have ever volunteered to do. People are so appreciative.

We received the following, and lots of other, feedback:.

We really don't know what to say - completely at a loss for words. Every one of your volunteers simply threw themselves into it and there was a tremendous buzz about the whole day! Besides being amazed at it, we felt very moved at the spirit shown and the dedication of every volunteer. And how so many were able to give up the whole day on Christmas Day of all days, I don't know!

The welcome party was excellent and no guest got past them without a cheery word and a helping hand.

The meal was splendid and I wouldn't have expected any better in a 5 star restaurant. Haven't enjoyed such a feast for many years.

Enjoyed chatting and laughing with our table and joining in the quiz.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of this.

My passenger was so happy to have been able to attend. She enjoyed it so much, commented on how good the food was and how kind everyone was. She had a wonderful time and made a new friend.

So many residents here have said that this year’s Christmas Lunch was amazing! They said there as so much wonderfully cooked food and everyone was so friendly and helpful. They said they were thoroughly spoilt by you all and everything was thought of, including the King’s Speech.

The event brought a lot joy to our guests. It brings the volunteers a great sense of fun and satisfaction to have reached out the Billericay community.
